Welcome to the toutle lake jr/sr high school

March 18, 2020

We are anticipating a large number of people coming to pick up work and personal belongings in the next two days.  In trying to streamline this process we would appreciate you sending an email with the day and approximate time you plan to come for pick up.  We also need the list of your kids and their grades in order to prepare.

If you have kids in PK-6 please email mhall@toutlesd.org

If you have kids in grades 7-12 please contact jfrandsen@toutlesd.org or kmarcil@toutlesd.org

Here is the information we need:
1.  Day
2.  Time (example 10-10:30, 11:30-12, etc.)
3.  Each student’s name (first and last)
4.  Grade level of each student
5.  If you have any special requests (such as the pick up of a musical instrument or medications) please inform us in your email.

Our staff has been working diligently the last two days preparing for a pick up for 695 students.  There will be wait time involved but we hope to help minimize it by implementing this process.
Please be patient as we work through this together.  We are Toutle Strong!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This letter is being disseminated in our effort to continue keeping our staff and community informed and safe during this health crisis.

Our school campus is closed to the public at this time and until further notice. However, we will provide a “drive-thru” on Thursday and Friday of this week for parents to pick up their child(ren)’s school work and belongings, including medications. The hours of the drive-thru are:
Thursday, 10:30am to 1:30pm and 2:00pm to 6:00pm
Friday, 8:00am to noon and 12:30pm to 3:30pm

All parents will enter on the west-end of the softball field, driving through the access road between the buildings. You will be met by a staff member to obtain further direction. Parents will not be able to vacate their vehicle (and thus students will not be able to check out library books as originally planned). District staff will deliver your child(ren)’s items to you in your vehicle.

We are attempting to provide students with instructional activities that we are expecting the students to complete during this school closure. Students may return their assignments once our schools are reopened. A phone call will be made to all parents who do not have internet access, so that everyone has the same information.

I would like to clarify a rumor that is circulating in the community. We have no staff member who has tested positive for COVID-19. We do have an employee who fell ill Friday evening. The employee contacted a “Teladoc” and described the symptoms. The Teladoc told the employee to treat it as the flu, to get rest and to stay home for 14 days. The Teladoc did say that the employee is low risk and does not need the test.

Again, “Thank you for your understanding and patience as we address this unprecedented situation. We are committed to the safety and well-being of our students, their families, our staff members, volunteers and this community.

Please continue to take care of yourselves and one another. We are a resilient community, and we will get through this challenging time together.”

Sincerely,

Bob Garrett
Superintendent

learning resources during closure

We have compiled a set of links and resources to academic websites that students can access during the school closure. The links are in the Clever portal that students are already familiar with in a newly created section on top called “Links and Resources for Studying at Home During School Closure”. Students can access the Clever portal using the quicklink for Clever Login that is located on all Toutle Lake School websites. They will login to clever with the same (School Google) username and password that they use to login to the chromebooks.
